Bloatarian Club IPA Hop Experiment.
Everyone had basically the same grain bill:
10 lb Pale malt
.5 lb Crystal 40
.4 lb Carapils
Mash @ 153°
Hops:
.8 oz Galena for bittering (everyone used Galena)
Varietal hop (mine was Apollo):
1 oz at 10 min
1.5 oz at knockout, whirlpool for 10 min
1.5 oz dry hop
US05 yeast, fermented 65-68°
26 kegs of IPA @ the meeting, some were late so there may have been more by the end! Got to taste a bunch of different hops, including many that I've never had and/or would have been unlikely to pick up. As for Apollo, I'd probably keep this one for a bittering charge only. If used late I'd definitely pair it with another hop or two. I'm tempted to drop an American oak spiral into this keg. For science.
