Here is my Rye Altbier. Not quite as clear as I would like, but good enough. Really great spicy flavor from the rye along with 5/0 minute additions of Mt. Hood and Glacier.

That sounds great !  I've never used rye in an alt. I think I will next time I brew one.

Its excellent. I used 3lb in 5 gallons. I think it will be in regular rotation in the kegerator.

You know I gotta say the caliber of pics on this thread has really stepped up. Composition-wise in particular.

That's a tasty looking beer, Jim. I'd really like to try that Red X malt.

This is from late, last fall.  My Autumn Brown ale with a hint of smoked malt.

I like the contrast between the scenic sweep of Jim's backyard and the narrow gang way between my house and my neighbors.  He plays saxophone.  We can feel it.

When it was green I thought it was a sharp version of munich 10L, but now its not the same at all. It fits the irish nicely I think. Its related to munich for sure, both kilned barley malt after all... but its just different. Not as... munichy? I like munich in lager, red x in uk ales.

I just picked up 10lbs of Red X, looking forward to brewing a 100% Red X lager with Wy2278. What hops would that work well with? I have Saaz, Hersbrucker, and Spalter for noble hops. I have 2 beers coming on tap soon with Saaz, so maybe I won't use those...but it could be a Czech red lager.
