German Pilsner with 100% Root Shoots Oddysey Pilsner Malt and Hop Heaven Hallertau. Tasty and not as dark as this picture.

I just cannot figure out how to get a good picture of a dark beer.  Contrast between body and head especially tricky.  Heck,  I'm not so good at photographing any beers. (And in my youth I was so good I considered it as a profession.)  Any general tips?  My inclination is that I need to haul a keg of every brew down to @BrewBama's place and put a pint on his deck rail for a pic.  Impractical,  but he always gets such great results!  Maybe this should be a separate topic.   If so, admin, please move.

Great color!!  Did you nail that on your first attempt or has that been an ongoing labor of love?  Looks awesome.

Thanks!!! It's kind of become a Holiday seasonal ale for me. This is my third attempt at this beer though very minor tweaks have been made. The key to this beer is Red X and chocolate rye. Pushed it up from 13 SRM to 14 SRM (calculated) for this attempt which seems to have done the trick. Nice and malty with a sturdy hop profile.

41% Pilsner
39% Red X
17% Rye
3% Chocolate Rye

40 IBUs with combo of Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe including dry hop
5.6% abv
US-05

@Iliff Ave Brewhouse - I agree.  Beautiful color!  I might have to give that a try too.

I think the easiest thing is get a new phone if you don’t already have one. The cameras in newer phones make things a lot easier.

Yeah, you're probably right.  Not very new at all.  * Sigh. *  Guess I was trying to avoid that.  You know you're a homebrewer when... your phone is still good enough, except it doesn't make your beer look good enough!    Thanks for the input.

This week I've been enjoying my Yule Log Smoked Scottish Ale -- I did a small (3 gallon) batch to drink over the holidays. It turned out pretty well, and the smoke character is nicely balanced against everything else.

Photo below, details on recipe, etc., on my blog: https://andybrews.com/2019/12/24/yule-log-smoked-scottish-ale/

Export.  Really a bit lighter color than the lighting suggests, but at least I think my photography is improving a little.
