That's an absolutely gorgeous beer! I'm curious on the color, too. Was it Munich malt?

Enjoying my kettle-soured Berliner Weisse-style beer to kick off the weekend...doing so indoors, though, to avoid the smoke here in SoCal! Hope everyone out there in the fire regions is staying safe.

Info on the recipe at the blog: https://andybrews.com/2020/09/11/claremonter-weisse-2020/

A pound of 20L crystal in the mash (11 gallon batch) and a pound of light Munich.

Yeah, I also had some light Munich malt in the grain bill as well as 1# of 20L crystal.

17#  West Branch 2 row pale malt
1# Aromatic
1# Carapils
1# Light Munich
1# 20L Crystal
1# Dextrose to dry it out a bit  (West Coast style IPA)

Latest "NE" IPA.  I put the New England part in quotes because it is dry hopped during primary fermentation, but otherwise has no oats, lactose, beef, etc in it.

Cool, thanks! I don't use aromatic/melanoidin-type malts in my IPAs typically, but I'm kinda curious to try them now. So it sounds like between the Munich, crystal 20, and aromatic, there is plenty of orange-color potential!

They balance out the 60 IBU's of hop bitterniess nicely.  Aromatic gives a slight biscuit note to the beer as well (at least to my palate).

Nice looking beers guys.  One more look at this bock (bock batch #2 of 2020 with another batch waiting 'on-deck') before the keg goes belly-up:

A day without beer is like... just kidding, I have no idea.

Wow what a beautiful color on that Berliner, any hints on how much fruit per gallon to achieve that color?

This is inspired by Shiner Bock so it's an "American Bock".  I have made this 5-6 times now and it's a good "in the spirit of..." recipe.  Easily tweaked if you see something you want to change.
