Pilsner made with homegrown Tradition and Magnum hops. Came out with approximately 0 IBU so had to add pre-isomerized hop extract to get some bitterness. After that, a decent pilsner

Lol that's always been something I "worried" about. Though, on my new system I can't even use leaf without a lot of pain. Looking good, though!!

Vanilla porter, great head retention, chocolate and coffee notes. Very little vanilla.

I used a forced carbonation method mentioned in Experimental brewing and it worked perfectly. No over carbonation! Very drinkable I'll scale back the roasted barley next time definitely

Tonight I have a gold lager brewed with Omega Bayern and the keg has a bag of Edelweiss floating in it...

Ken from Chicago.
A day without beer is like... just kidding, I have no idea.

Have a recipe you could share?  I remember having that beer for the first time and couldn’t believe how high the abv was.

Here's the blog post with my version of the recipe: https://andybrews.com/2021/01/16/mahajanga-ipa/ -- note that I adjusted the hop varieties a bit for what I had on-hand.

A version of the recipe that has a "better" hop selection is here: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/284930/maharaja-clone -- this one is I think exactly what's in the recipe book.

I can't speak to how closely this does or doesn't match Maharaja, but the malt and yeast character are about perfect for my tastes. If I brew this again, I'll adjust the hop schedule to more closely match the original recipe (CTZ+Centennial+Simcoe in the boil & whirlpool, instead of Chinook).

Avery confuses me. When you look at their website you see a list of ingredients but when you look at their home brew recipe the ingredients differ. I’ve noticed this for more than one of their beers.

If you like brewery recipes BrewDog lists their recipes as does Ballast Point.
