A simple bohemian style pilsner. I am almost done using up some ingredients from before a hiatus. The malt tastes very fresh but the hops that have been in the freezer for about the same three years as the malt has been in the cellar seem not bad but I wish they had  bit more character.
Overall though its a pretty nice beer. It has that European lager malt flavor that I just love and is very refreshing.

Did you use any Munich in there? Looks a little deeper gold than straight up Pilsner malt.

I used a little carawheat. In that picture I think the top half still has a lot of co2 coming up that disperses a lot of
Light making the color deeper. The bottom third of the glass is a more accurate representation of color and clarity. Also, I just tapped this and only lagered 2 1/2 weeks, it had a hint of chill haze.

Illif Ave, the recipe:
95% Valley Malt Pilsner Malt
5% Valley Malt Carawheat
Saaz early and late targeting 40 ibu
S-34/70

I've brewed this Hefe and tweaked it 7 times.

I feel that it is perfect now all it took was 4 ounces of melanoiden.

Nice looking beer. I have some
Goldings that seem to have lost some %AA. I brewed a beer with intended 36 IBU. It tastes more like 20. I need to clean out the freezer.

I pretty much finished my older freezer hops, and am getting there with older malt. The malt doesn’t seem to have been eff3cted at all by time.

The latest German style Pilsner but made with maris otter instead of German pils malt. It’d definitely pass as a German pils in competition etc but is different. Though it’s the same recipe it comes off as sweeter and more biscuit than dry cracker.  I do think it’d be a good addition at 20% of the base grain but I definitely prefer the Pilsner base malt pils over this one. Otherwise it’s an excellent and enjoyable brew!!!

That’s a pretty one! Time for me to brew a Hefeweizen soon!

Beautiful.  For awhile there some brewers were talking about brewing with 50/50 pilsner malt and "pale ale malt" to give the beer more depth and I've done it a few times as well.  Also, not long ago I went to brew a pilsner and my sack of Best Malz Pils was sitting right next to a sack of Avangard "2-row pale malt".  I meant to use the pilsner but I got all the malt for the batch measured out and milled and at some point found myself looking at those bags and thought to myself "pretty sure I did not grab the bag of pilsner" so I made a pilsner with no pilsner malt in it.  :P  Beer still came out nicely.

Thank you, it was first kind of beer I ever brewed and I've been using it as my guinea pig ever since. I think this is the last tweak on this recipe as far as I'm concerned it's perfect

A schwarzbier, following a recipe in Brewing Classic Styles. I'm really happy with this beer on a technical level; it seems to nail the BJCP guidelines pretty closely, and is super drinkable! It's not quite to my personal tastes (I feel like I want to dial back the pilsner malt and up the Munich malt), but I have some ideas on how to adjust it for a future brew session. Full recipe on my website https://andybrews.com/2021/04/11/twisted-schwarzbier/.
