American-style porter, roughly based on a BYO clone recipe for Deschutes Black Butte Porter. It is drinking SUPER nicely, and I'm quite pleased with the results. After a few "meh" recipes, I feel like my current keezer lineup is really solid (porter, American pale ale, and raspberry Belgian sour).
I was inspired to create a logo for the beer...it's named "Turtle Toe Porter" after a fossil specimen my museum's field crew collected this past summer. It was a ~67 million year old turtle shell, and when our preparator started cleaning it up in the lab, it turned out to have gorgeous hands and feet buried in the rock too! "Turtle Toe Porter" just rolls off the tongue, and my museum colleague is a huge fan of porters, so I figured it would be a fun celebration of his work.
