My Independence Day Kentucky Common. My 160th all grain beer since AL made homebrew legal.

This is a great beer!

Looks NICE!  I don't think I have ever tasted that style before.  I'll have to see if I can find some examples in the ATL.

Happy Fourth!

Looks great! I’ve never brewed that style. Wondering if you can share some tips on brewing this style?

I based my recipe off a Brew Dudes video (linked in the recipe below).  It looks dark and heavy but is really a light malty beer.  A close Cream Ale cousin. Great with sticky ribs yesterday.

My only tip other that the video and my notes is next time I think I’ll bump up both hop additions to 1 oz but leave them at the same timing. It could use a bit more bitterness but it’s a good contrast to the IPA served along side it.

This is what I did:

That looks great, BB.  I actually drew up a recipe for one of these maybe 3-4 years ago and never brewed it.  But it had the look and feel of a beer I would like plus... an off-the-map American style that you don't see commercially?  Yes, please!  You have rekindled my curiosity.

i know 940 + vienna/pils/corn is popular in summer, but that foam does look insane. nice one.

I'm pretty sure that 940 is Modelo's yeast so I often make [my versions of] Mexican-styles with it... something like a regular Modelo, Victoria, Negra Modelo, etc. and they all have a refreshing character from this yeast strain.  I have been making this particular recipe for many years and it's nice in warm and schputzy weather.  I made the Victoria-style recipe last weekend and I have 2-3 more batches to make with it and then it will probably be retired.  Cheers Fred.

Finally made a decent Mexican lager!
Tell me all about it!!  :D

Roughly 50 pils / 30 flaked corn / 20 vienna / 1 oz chocolate rye for color
sterling hops for bittering and 14g @ 10 min for about 13 IBU
1.045
Diamond Lager Yeast

I also added the zest of one lime and the juice of two limes post fermentation. There is just a hint of lime which was the goal. Had some eggy sulfur but that has subsided. Very happy with it!
