thanks guys. here is a chocolate focused imperial stout i made. some of the bottles were dosed with vodka and quality cocoa powder, left to sit then put through a coffee filter ending up very clear. i believe thats what youngs does for their chocolate stout. i hit the flavours i wanted with significant quantities of roast and medium crystal, but i missed the final pH due to the sheer amount of roast. good, drinkable dark chocolate stout and a learning experience to prepare for this - 2.0. i think i was aiming for brooklyn chocolate stout. also head was not great, it was my first brew of the fall/brewing season

A Rauch Helles. Only used yeast slurry from a classic Rauchbier. Barke Pils malt, a touch of Mittelfrüh, S-189 was the yeast. This is right In my wheelhouse.

So just a slurry added noticeable smoke flavor? That’s awesome. Looks great.

Just enough to notice a little. That's what Schlenkerla does for their Helles.

I would take a not so pretty great brew over a pretty but bad tasting brew any day !

Cheers

This is pretty. Pretty tasty!

I like the subtle smoke aroma and flavor along with the clean malty Barke malt.
Spent a month in Germany in the fall. Two weeks of that was in Bamberg.

That is one crystal clear beer - congrats on the process and result!  A little extra effort can go a long way.

The thread on finings motivated me to take the picture. The clarity is mainly due to time at cold temperature. This was brewed back in March.
