Yeah, it makes me sad. Black IPA is so unique. It's combining two beer styles I love - schwarzbier and IPA. Very nice combo. Mine is 6.4% around 60 IBU. I don't think black IPA needs to be double IPA strength.
But I may have to try tossing some centennials in to my next batch. This has a blend of 1.5oz of each; .75oz of the blend at FWH, 20, 15, 10, 5, and 0 for 4.5oz total. And the yeast is WLP838 fermented at about 55F. I pretty much use lager yeast for everything nowadays, except for Belgians or hefes.
