Falconers Flight APA.

A bit humid out today. I think I’ll find something to slake my thirst. Cheers.

Great-looking beer BB.  I'll have one!  :D

Strawberry Cream Ale

Would you share the recipe?  How did you incorporate the fruit into the beer?  Fresh, puree, extract?  Many fruit beers in my past have been failures.  Cheers.

Strawberry Cream Ale

Would you share the recipe?  How did you incorporate the fruit into the beer?  Fresh, puree, extract?  Many fruit beers in my past have been failures.  Cheers.

Here is the recipe.  I do 30 minute boils, so adjust the FWH hop addition accordingly.  I've used different yeasts for this, something that will stay out of the way will work.

6 gallon recipe

8 lbs 12.00 oz   Bohemian Pilsner
13 oz   Corn, Flaked
13 oz   Honey Malt
8.00 oz   Carapils
1.00 oz   Mt. Hood [4.8%] - First Wort 30 minutes
8.00 oz   Malto-Dextrine (Boil 5 min)
1.00 oz   Willamette [6.8%] - Boil 0 mi
1 pkgs   California Ale (White Labs #WLP001)
49.00 oz   Strawberry Puree
18.75 ml   Strawberry Extract
10.00 ml   Vanilla Extract

Mash temp 153.  At day 3-4 of fermentation, add strawberry puree to fermenter.  Add the extracts at kegging.
Some day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny

A new kölsch-style ale, perfect for a warm and sunny afternoon in southern California! I didn't add gelatin to the keg for this batch, so it's got a touch of yeast haze, but other than that I'm really pleased with it. I brewed it with 95% pilsner malt and 5% light Munich, with not an ounce of wheat to be found! Details are at the blog for those who are interested: https://andybrews.com/2020/07/17/kolsch-minimus/

Looks good. I think the K-97 is a cousin to American Wheat beer yeast. It does take quite a long time to clear. That said a beer doesn’t have to be clear to taste good. Cheers

Not a recent.brew.  Drinking a 2017 English Barleywine that I brewed with one of my local brew buddies.  Nice sherry notes and malty notes!

Wizard of Saaz? That might be the most awesome beer glass I've ever seen.

Wizard of SAAZ is a regional competition that is sponsored by the Society of Akron Area Zymurgistts (SAAZ) every year.   A few years ago, anyone who judged in the competiton got a complementary glass as a souvenir.  It's one of my favorites!

More of this Hacienda Lager.  Keg is probably getting very light...

Lager, hopped with the "fresh" blue lake crystal hops. Omega Bayern Lager yeast at 50F. Still a little undercarbed, but turned out great. Surprisingly I do get the fresh hop taste with it, I can already tell this one is going to go fast.
