Saison in the keg NOT carbonating--Please help!
« on: April 19, 2019, 06:38:17 pm »
Hi all! I brewed up a Belgian Saison (first time) a while back and have had it in the keg for several weeks now.
I cannot get the brew carbonated--all I get is a frothy head.

It does have a nice flavor, the head lasts and lacing is evident on the glass. But I am not seeing
carbonation.

The keg system is sound, plenty of gas and no leaks.

I know that Belgian beers are bottle conditioned and tend to be highly carbonated, and are generally not force carbed. But still...

I would welcome any advice on how to get this beer where it needs to be!

Can you post a pic? And recipe. Saison is one of my favorite styles to brew and drink...sipping on a Funkwerks Saison now!

I recommend reviewing previous advice for similar problems: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=4478.0

I need some clarity on a Saturday morning...

You say you can't get it carbonated but then mention all you get is foam?  That sounds like over-carbonation to me.  To my fuzzy morning mind those are two completely different issues.  Can you clarify?

Thanks!

Paul
Where the heck are we going?  And what's with this hand basket?

That was my thought exactly! My brain is fuzzy for many reasons

If you are getting a head and lacing then the beer is carbonated. In addition to a pic of the beer and recipe, a description of your kegging setup/ process would help. How long is the beer line? How do you carbonate--set & forget at serving pressure? Burst carb? What pressure(s) did you go with and what level of carbonation are you shooting for?

Slainte!
