I have made beer with Avangard Pilsner and Viking Pilsner. I can’t compare them directly because I haven’t used Avangard in quite while. I can say both made fine beer.

I haven’t used the Viking extra pale.

Can't speak to the Viking products but I have used Avangard quite a bit and think it is a reliable option for pils.

I really like Avaangard pilsner. It's a little fuller and more flavorful than Rahr or Great Western (my regulars). I've never used Viking, but just saw MoreBeer has it on sale, so will have to give it a try.
Far better to dare mighty things....

I have been using the Viking Pale malt and really like the flavor!  My LHBS store carries Avangard, and is what I was previously using, but I thought the last sack I got was imparting a sweeter taste in my lighter beers than I recall.  Since I like the Viking Pale, thought about giving the pilsner or Xtra light a try since it is almost lager temps in my basement.
