I'll see if I can find a report for assault and beer-tery.

Well. Maybe so. In retrospect I drank it straight from the bottle at a party. Maybe I just assumed it was red/amber colored. I have 5 more but haven’t gotten to them.

Had another one yesterday...maybe my 6th overall.  I certainly wouldn't call it an amber.

Dang it Denny, you made me open my 6th bottle at 10 am! ;)

I wouldn't call it an amber either, but the IPA goalposts keep getting moved. Compared to unbittered 5% ABV adjunct fruit beers, something with malt character could seem pretty out of style.

;D. I think it may have something to do with difference the way Tommy and I consumed the beer.  He drank it from the bottle, I drink it from a glass.

I've had this beer and it's very nice and well made. I consider it more on the high end of the APA range and less of an IPA. I'm sure my tastes have changed over the years and I expect a bigger hop flavor in IPA's.

Thanks.

I think maybe this was an example of confirmation bias. I had in my head this beer was an Amber and when drinking from a brown bottle that’s what I thought I tasted.

I had another tonight. This time I poured it into a glass. Definitely not amber colored or flavored.

I still like it.

Regarding, APA versus IPA. I guess borderline. Very drinkable. It’s bitter but not too bitter. It’s hoppy but the hops flavors and aromas blend well with the beer and aren’t overly aggressive.

I’ve been wanting to pick this up but seems like a pretty weak choice for a 40th anniversary beer. Still confused about their motives with this one.
On Tap/Bottled: IPL, Adjunct Vienna, Golden Stout, Honey Lager
Fermenting: IPA
Up Next: mexi lager, Germerican pale ale

Seems pretty obvious to me...they wanted to make a beer they like that reflects their history.

What were you expecting. Sierra Nevada was never into making over the top beers. Just pretty much straight forward brews.

Had this last evening for the first time and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors, aromas, and bitterness. As Denny said. Ir represents their history well.

Sounds cool denny. Not obvious to me.

Maybe something worthy of a 40th anniversary.
