NO CLEAN brewing -- finally!
« on: April 01, 2020, 08:12:23 am »
Admit it, brewers can be lazy. The traditional methods are a lot of work and can be very time consuming, so there have been many shortcuts made: no sparge, no boil, no chill, and now the Aussies have done it again with NO CLEAN! Soaking and scrubbing the caked-on gunk inside a fermenter is nobody’s idea of fun. Expensive cleaning solutions can help, but still take time and effort. Now you can have a sparkling clean fermenter in a matter of seconds with no effort, using the new NO CLEAN liners. These are BPA-free biodegradable bags that you put inside your fermenter on brew day, before sanitizing. Then you ferment as normal. After you transfer the beer out of the fermenter you simply remove the liner and throw it in the compost bin. All the gunk comes with it and there is no cleaning at all! It is easy and environmentally friendly, reducing your use of water and cleaning chemicals.

Small-batch brewers may be interested in our Ferment-in-a-toilet (FIAT) system. This lid seals tight and has a grommeted airlock hole in the top. Once you rack your beer out, just flush and you’re done! Easy as pie. Or pee.

Remember, SIP, WHF, RDWHAHB and HAFD!

Oh, today.  Yes, what a product - but didn't Genesis do something along these lines?

Wow, you are right! I had no idea that somebody was actually doing this (the bag liner, not the FIAT). https://shop.brewcraftusa.com/genesis-fermenter I thought I had an original idea that was basically stupid but just sensible to keep people reading until they got to the truly ridiculous part.

And all this has had me reminiscing about my Dad's '73 FIAT 128.   I think that was something that might have been found fermenting in a toilet!  🤣

I didn't immediately think of April Fools Day.  My first thought was I think I read about fermenter liners last year.  Then I got to the FIAT line started laughing.

Thanks, need a good laugh today.

There's a commercial system like this as well, but it's just for serving. Heineken has a keg system where the beer is bagged, but air is pumped in between the keg and the liner for serving. Hard to find good fodder for April fool's nowadays.

I really think you're onto something with FIAT.
Some day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny
