John Prine - RIP
« on: April 07, 2020, 11:19:41 pm »
I have so many words and none that I can speak, but John Prine is dead and that, well, sucks. One of America's greatest songwriters dead of CV-19 complications and I missed seeing him last year and thought "Oh I'll get another chance" $#^%#Q%$^Q$#^$^W$^%@$%^w

Seriously, damnit, damnit, damnit - the man was a humble genius. This was his debut album written when he was like 25 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VVK0PPikf8&list=PLcX8U1aufGEPfr-Cex3zfe50_Ms0h6g0c

First Bill Withers, now John Prine.  Tough week for music.

I was lucky to see him 3 times. One of the best shows I ever saw was John Prine in some small, no-name theater.  The unassuming place fit Prine like a glove.  The way he told stories, had fun with the crowd, and played those sublime songs was just magic.  He will be missed.

I heard he wasn’t doing well. I hoped he would be one of the lucky ones who pulled thru.

Yes, a great loss, but I grieve just as much for the tens of thousands most of us have never heard of.
