As requested, this is the recipe I'm planning to brew tomorrow.

Grain (Specialty grain steep):
Bestmalz Red X  -   1.0 lb
Chocolate Rye -    0.25 lb

Other Fermentables:
Pale LME -      13.5 lb 10.5 lb

Hops:
Simcoe -      1.0 oz (First Wort)
Citra -      1.0 oz (60 min)
Galaxy (AUS) -   1.0 oz (60 min)
Cascade -      2.0 oz (2 min)
Galaxy (AUS) -   1.0 oz (2 min)
Ekuanot (US) -   1.0 oz (Whirlpool)

Dry Hop:
Amarillo -      1.0 oz (5 days)
Galaxy (AUS) -   1.0 oz (5 days)
Citra -      1.0 oz (5 days)

Yeast:
US-05

There's a bunch of Australian Galaxy hops going in because I have a 4 oz package I got a my LHBS a little while back and I want to use some of them.  I was planning to use 2 lb. of Red X but when I placed the order I only had one and just didn't notice.  It's not a big deal.  This batch is being done with some experimentation in mind.  So I'll just see how it comes out.  And I opted for LME because the mash was going to be almost completely 2 row.

Not brewing until tomorrow so if anyone sees any glaring concerns, please let me know.  I'm not opposed to making last minute adjustments.

What’s the color estimate? Red is a hard thing to get.

As it is right now, I think around 12.  Maybe in to the low teens.  It's probably going to end up more of an amber.

What's the batch volume? 13.5 lb of LME is going to put your OG for 6 gal at ~1.085 or 11 gal at ~1.045. Either seems off the mark for an IPA.

Looks tasty regardless. I've only used RedX once (and proportionately a bit more) but I'd guess in conjunction with the rye you'll at least be in the color neighborhood for the bright red thing.

WOW!  I'm so glad you mentioned that!  Yeah, I must have gotten a conversion wrong when I was doing the original numbers.  Original batch size will be about 5.25 gal., trying to get an even 5 in the keg after dry hopping.  I'm shooting for an OG in the area of 1.075.  So I think I'm bumping that LME down to 10.5 lb.  That's hitting the mark better in the Brewer's Friend calculator.  Thanks!

The OG of this batch came out a bit under what I was planning.  At the end it was 1.067, but I'm completely happy with that.  The gravity was pretty much the only thing that didn't go quite right with this batch.  Other than when the hose popped off one side of my wort chiller and I got a spray of water right in the face.  But it didn't go in the beer, so all is good.

But the color came out real nice.  It still remains to be seen what it will look like in a glass, but here's a couple wort pics.  Probably more amber than red, but I'm very happy with it.
