Parasitic Fermentation Chamber
« on: August 20, 2020, 07:31:37 am »
Having a garage where the temperature can easily hit 90 during the day and drop into the 50's at night, controlling the temperature of my fermentation quickly became critical. Also having limited space (no room for a second refrigerator) I needed a temperature controlled box big enough for my carboy, but just big enough.

Using a lower kitchen cabinet I had in the garage, an Inkbird controller and a PC fan I was able to draw cold air from the freezer of my kegerator to the cabinet and maintain a fermentation temperature within +/- 1 Degree F. The cabinet is insulated with 1.5 inch foam board and I used some dryer vent bits to create supply and return air flow to the freezer. The "all in" moment came when I cut two 4" holes in the side of the freezer compartment. The idea works perfectly!

There is always room for improvement so if anyone would like to see some pics of the design, I would be happy to share in exchange for some feedback on the design.
