Checking in
« on: June 25, 2020, 08:52:09 pm »
I'm still around. Not much but still pop in every now and again. Was off work for over 2 months and got called back May 18. We meet with the oncologist yesterday.  She said the chemo is slowing the progression so that's a good thing. But the chemo only works for so long. It will be a year in November she started it. Dr said based off that she probably has until about this time next year. So, going to do our best to make the best of our last summer together.

That is a very sad situation indeed.  How awful it is that your lasting time together is being hampered by so many social restrictions.  I don’t know you and never met you, but I will pray for you.

Though I would drop in and update. We found a Dr in Agusta, GA that is willing to do a stem cell transplant. Said he would only do it if he found a Perfect 100% match. It's not unheard of but very rare to get one of 100%. They called two days ago and said they found multiple, and several that were even better than 100% We're very excited that she may have a chance now. Probably in November we wil head down there. She will be in the hospital 3 months before we can come home. It's gonna be a long three months. They give her a 30% survival rate. But being as without a transplant she has a 100% mortality rate, we'll take it. If she does not make it, she will just be gone now as to next year. If you're going to go down, go down swinging! She's tough, stubborn and a fighter. She's got this. I know it!!!

And I know someone whose "terminal" problem was solved by stem cells.
Good Luck!
