Krausen
« on: November 23, 2020, 10:24:23 am »
I've got my first batch of cider fermenting, today is day 8. Seems to be going well, slow and steady. 5 gallons, added 1 pound of brown sugar to bring the OG to 1.065. Using S-04 yeast. Been sitting at a pretty steady room temp 65° F.

Checked on it last night, SG is at 1.030, which seems fine for now but has quite a bit of krausen. 2+ inches of what to me seems fairly dense foam. Doesnt look moldy, steady brown color. Is this much krausen normal?

yep, cider tends to have a heavy and persistent krausen.
Don't let the bastards cheer you up.
