drinking a zywiec now, as i have been for so long. talk about under-rated, underappreciated. they have a ton of breweries, but the good classics are strong competitors with a somewhat unique character.

like a helles but stronger malt, slightly higher IBUs

anyone?

My wife's family is from Poland, so I often have a Polish lager thrust in my hand when visiting family. Zywiec is good, as is EB. My favorite pale Polish lager is probably Okocim "OK Beer", which you can get in the can nowadays. I wouldn't say that any of them are better than comparable beers from the big German lager breweries, but they're all definitely tasty brews that I will grab if I see them fresh.

Polish Lublin hops.  I wish I could find some.  I'd bet they are yummy.

Zywiec and Zywiec porter are excellent beers! I'd love to successfully brew these.

When we were in Krakow a few years ago it was amazing their thirst for craft beer. Unfortunately most of their craft beers reminded me of brewpub beers from 15 years ago when brewers were trying to make a style with what they had rather than the correct ingredients. I can imagine it is tough to get anything other than European hops to put in your IPA. Anyway, I'd head back to Poland in an instant. We had a fantastic time and everything is inexpensive.
It's not a popularity contest, it's beer!
