Chinook + Idaho 7?
« on: March 10, 2021, 09:36:18 am »
I'm planning a larger (for me) batch to split three ways for a yeast comparison.  I don't want a whole lot of assertive malt or hops character.  So I was thinking I'd just add a bittering charge at the start of the boil to get the recipe into the 20-30 IBU range.  I can do this without buying any new hops if I combine my leftover Chinook and Idaho 7 -- those are the only two high AA hops in my freezer right now.

Has anyone used these two together?

Is this a bad idea?

Thanks.

Hop flavors sometimes combine is unexpected, almost alchemical ways and didn't want to proceed a combo known to be problematic.

+1 on using them together.  I actually think they'd complement each other nicely.
