Thinking of selling my Anvil Foundry
« on: March 22, 2021, 08:07:13 pm »
I bought a foundry 10.5 gallon with the small batch insert and recirc pump. Wanting to upgrade to the spike solo and willing to get rid of it for 375-400 bucks you pay shipping. Not sure if this is allowed here or not.

It works good but the solo has the steam lid so I can brew inside without having to install a hood in the basement and drill a 6 inch hole outside

You can get a condenser for the anvil

This is rather expensive but cheaper than the cost of upgrading...

This is what I use on the foundry.

^^ And this

The steam slayer from brewhardware.com works great on the Anvil unless you've fallen out of love with the Foundry and just want a new toy. it happens.

I have 4 brews on it so far, two I really liked one was a dumper and one was so so I chose the wrong yeast for a dunkelweisen and it came out very tart.

I'm thinking of going back to my old boil kettle and using the Foundry for a very expensive mash tun and HLT lol

I have a few of those chapman 7 gall SS kettle/fermenters for when I wanna boil and chill and ferment in same vessel.

But willing to sell if anyone is interested.

What I really wanna do is still up in the air

If you want a more durable all in one, the Solo seems pretty solid.  Plus each component is replaceable- or so it appears. Someone with the Solo can chime in.  It is similar to my Stout Tank 18 gallon Brew in a Basket, which I have paired with the Wort Hog 130 controller and 5500W ripple element for 10 gallon batches.

I like that some of the work on spikes inventory is "assembled in the USA" when you can't find made in the USA

I thought about getting the foundry but decided on the Bräu Supply Unibräu instead. Haven’t received mine yet but its a bit cheaper than the Spike solo with the downside of having to ship warranty items to Canada if you have an issue

I used my anvil just to mash and sparge in and then my fermenter/boil kettle to boil chill and ferment in this morning. Kind of like that set up.
