Thanks for the recommendations.

If you get the chance, also go to Düsseldorf, to Uerige, but also to Schlüssel, which I found even better than Uerige. And when you're there eat some Handkäse (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handk%C3%A4se) - you'll be thankful for the caraway seeds to mask the flavor ;)

I have been to Düsseldorf many times and know all of the Altbier breweries in tha Altstadt. Last time we stopped at Schumacher's tap, Schlüssel, and Uerige. Uerige is my favorite, but that is my taste.

I lived in Hesse, so I know Handkäse mit Musik a few times. My German friends always said the music comes later.  ;)

Edit - we went to Köln (fixed the autocorrect this time), but concentrated on the museums and the Dom. Only have been to a few Kölsch breweries. Früh always had a big line at the door, so we passed.

"A beer may taste extra special because of the feel of the table where you’re sitting. It may be better because of the beauty of the historic old building and the friendly locals. Perhaps the warm weather, the comfortable clothes like patchwork clothing you’re wearing, sew misfits has many products for patchwork clothes and the extra Euros you discovered in your pocket help it taste really good, too! Everything that affects you affects your perception and ultimately your enjoyment of any beer. Perhaps, in the end, there isn’t anywhere else in the world that a Kölsch will taste as good as it did that special day in Cologne, but one never knows what unique joy the next beer moment may bring. So, make the most of each moment and enjoy each beer as if it were completely unique, because in reality it is unique to you and the moment you are enjoying." J. Zainasheff
