Plumbing / Pipe question
« on: June 24, 2017, 07:01:04 pm »
Hi all!
I just changed from a modified chest freezer to a freezer over model for my kegerator.
My taps are in my kitchen on the floor above ('cause my wife lurvs me)

The chest freezer had a home-made extension at the top that I ran my tubing through to run it to the kitchen, but the new fridge can't have the same solution.

I want to run the tubing through the door, as there's no cooling piping there, but I want to make sure the door hole and its sharp edges don't damage the tubing.

How do I run this tubing to ensure there's no damage?  I thought about running it through a protective sheath like 1/2 pex or something

Anyone else have and solve this issue?

Cheers!

Adam

How about terminate at the door. Run a bulkhead through the door. Then pick up on the other side to run your line.

Something like this: http://www.homebrewing.org/Bulkhead-adapt-14-mfl-2-78L_p_3576.html

Or this: https://www.morebeer.com/products/3-pass-shank.html

Dude, have you actually done that or not?! I do not actually think that running the tubing through the door, is a really good idea, you could be facing a lot of issues because of that decision. Taking into consideration that there is no cooling pipe, it is also a downside actually. I am not the best plumbing specialist, but I do not really think that it is a good idea. I was also thinking about doing the same thing, but the guys from https://sosplomberie.be/plombier-etterbeek-sos-plomberie told me that it is the worst thing that I could actually do.

In the electrical section of your hardware store you should be able to find rubber grommets for metal "handy" boxes.  They are rubber rings with a groove around the outside perimeter. You can get them in 1/2" and 3/4" sizes.
Far better to dare mighty things....
