Blast from the past
« on: April 19, 2021, 04:22:09 pm »
I had the day off and brewed a cream ale today....first attempt at that, trying to use up last years pils malt.  Anyway, I’ve been putting my brews is a blank book and I noticed my first recipe from July 17, 1990.  I actually started brewing back in the mid 80’s but never wrote anything down.

Pilsner

1 lb. Munich dark malt
1/2 lb. wheat malt
3 kg Ireks light malt extract
1/2 cup black patent malt (15 min)
1.25 Saaz hop pellets (60 min)
1.25 Saaz hop pellets (30 min)
.50 Saaz hop pellets (2 min)
1/2 oz Vierka Lager yeast.

WTF did I make?  No further notes.......

Some sort of porter-esque lager?

Czech Dark Lager maybe.

It’s interesting how the different units of measure are used (lb, kg, cups,...)
