Accidently froze wort before pitching
« on: April 20, 2021, 07:44:25 am »
So this weekend my buddy and I brewed a pilsner.  We put the fermenter in the fridge to get down to pitching temps while the yeast starter was wrapping up.  When going to pitch the following day, we realized the tempter probe had come out of the fridge and the beer was frozen solid.  Is the beer recoverable if he thaw it completely and pitch the yeast?

Yes, the wort will be fine - bring up to pitch temperature and proceed as planned.
