Just Ordered A Chest Freezer!
« on: September 10, 2010, 07:40:13 am »
The day has arrived!  I'm going to build a four-tap chest freezer kegerator with a black 9 cu ft chest freezer I just bought from Sears. 3 taps will be CO2 and one will be beergas w/stout faucet. Pretty excited!  I'd also like to say I have a pretty awesome wife for indulging me with this purchase 8).

Woohoo.  If you're building a collar, just make sure it is tall enough so you can put kegs on the compressor hump.

Now you'll be thinking about how you can run a glycol system from the basement up to the recliner for football games! :)

Haha. Actually, the TV and cushy couch are going to be in the next room!

I do plan on building a 2x6 collar and, eventually, my own tap handles:).

I put a 2 x 6 on my chest freezer and kegs on the hump miss by an inch or two, but it's only 7.2 cu ft so you may be ok.

Should be ok. Plus, the only things I plan to put on the hump are the gas bottles, which need less clearance than kegs.

eh i can't fit kegs on my hump, but thats okay cause that's where all my gas lines go and where i store beer.

My hump fits a 6.5 gallon bucket perfectly with my 2X4 collar so it's where I ferment. Sure I have to drink 55ยบ beers for two weeks, but then I cold crash so it's all good. Then again, I can fit 6 kegs in the freezer anyways, so I don't need the extra room for more kegs.

Nice!  You won't regret this purchase.

I have two chests, one of which I'm converting into a kegerator as I had indicated to you earlier.  I finally received all of the parts I need to finish the kegerator.  Now all I need is the time to do it.

Tell me about it!  That's going to be the limiting factor for me too. After this weekend, I'll have just about all the parts but virtually no time!  Hoping I can get it built by mid-October. Have you started on yours yet?

No...I'm studying for the BJCP Exam on 9/18.  So hopefully sometime right after that I can start. Can't wait!

Kegerators are great.  When they work...    :P

Hope the build goes smoothly and you have no issues.   ;D
