Rant! Glad Fold lock sandwich baggies
« on: September 13, 2010, 12:17:33 pm »
Are no longer being manufactured in the good ole US.

I like these compared to ziplocks for ease of use and this just figures...if I like it, it will go bye bye....

http://www.amazon.com/Glad-Fold-Top-Sandwich-Bags/product-reviews/B001RD3M6I/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

I finally know why I cannot find em any more...

Grrrrrrrrr...now I have to buy a case lot and get back to hoarding....I don't have many lunches left to make in my career,
but, I have made THOUSANDS of lunches in my life using this product and Never ever got gastro...anything that can be
attributed to the closure method of these baggies,

Dang it Cap what you going to put your stuff in ???

I for one hated these type of baggies. Stuff was always falling out... :o

My mom used them when I was a kid back in the day.  I never got sick. Yet I do love the ZiplocĀ®.  My wife needs the ones with the plastic zipper thingy.  I do find Ziploc bags a waste for sandwiches.

Ziploc bags are far better for storing used grains and extra hops. In fact... I have a "Mystery" bag with all of the leftover pellet hops and small amounts of crushed grain that go back in the freezer. Someday I'll make a "Mystery Beer" with all of the leftovers.

Dude! I get these at the dollar store... I'm pretty sure any dollar store around you would have them... they're like a buck each or less...

Too bad about the demise of 35mm film to digital. Those film canisters came in handy.

You just have to get with the times. Disposables are out.

This is correct. I use the hell out of these and other brands. The super cheap ones suck so look for liquid tight. They cost a bit more.

I send my kids to school every day with their lunch and snacks in these kind of things.  Lots of different sizes, and cheap enough that if they break or don't come home from school I'm not out a whole bunch of cash.

If demand is low, why would the company keep making them?  Your baggies may degrade faster, but I keep 6 or 10 bags a day out of the landfill by putting my kids lunches and snacks in these containers.  Oh, and they're recyclable, so hopefully not many end up in the landfill anyway.  ;)

This made me laugh. You never really had a choice. Companies cancel products all the time. If there is sufficient demand, some other firm will step up to satisfy it, capitalism, free market, etc.
