In S.C. we don't make much fun at our neighbors to the south, which is Georgia; we spend too much time making fun of ourselves.

We actually pity our southern neighbors. We have the University of South Carolina - Home of the Fighting Gamecocks! - and all they have is UGA and that poor ugly bulldog. We do have Clemson (aka Clem's Son) and them hillbilly bastards that pull for that stupid tiger so I guess that makes us equal.

Our form of entertainment is the "Half-Backs". Those are all of them damn Yankees that move to Florida and then only make it halfway back, and then retire in S.C. and then tell us how everything we do is wrong. We just smile and nod.

Now, now, Cap...

If you're ever down this way I'll be glad to take you on week long canoeing/camping trip. I've got some relatives I would like for you to meet 8)

I think that's just Cap's way of fishing for a canoe trip invite.

We definitely talk smack about Iowans here in Minnesota. But not too harshly, since just about everyone seems to have friends/relatives who live there. I remember as a kid being told that Iowa stands for I Oughtta Went Around ;D. Then there was the old joke: "What did the Minnesotan do when the Iowan threw the grenade over the state line?  Pulled the pin and threw it back!"

I also lived in Indianapolis for a while and Kentuckians are definitely made fun of.  I grew up near St Louis, MO and, same thing, Arkansas is the target.

I grew up in St Louis and now live in Indianapolis, and I think the problem is just that Arkansas and Kentucky are particularly low-hanging fruit. I've never heard Coloradans poke fun at New Mexico, for example.

This applies to other countries as well. Italy and Germany come to mind.

I wonder if southern Australians look down on northern Australians?

Iowans make fun of everyone, including ourselves.  I grew up in NW Iowa about 25 miles from SD and MN we'd tell jokes about the rest of Iowa like it was a different state.

Things like Iowa stands for Idiots Out Wandering Around.

I had someone ask me why moved back to Iowa after going to school KC and then living in NE for 9 years?  I told them I couldn't afford the blocks for the "yard car" in MO and was tired of only having one team to watch and everything being painted red in NE.

A oldie about MN (and I've heard it form Minnesotans about Iowa), "Why do birds fly over MN upside down? Cause it ain't worth a s@#$."  8^)

The ones I know do. :)  I think it's because the north tends to be more sparsely populated.  Of course they still make fun of the Taswegians.   :)

Speaking of, never ask an Aussie woman about her map of Tasmania.  I tricked a friend of mine into doing that once, if she'd been closer she would have smacked him.  ;D
