Water
« on: March 09, 2024, 09:07:44 am »
I forgot to turn my RO system off the other day and made more water than I need for Sunday brew day. Fortunately I fill 2 kettles simultaneously and my kettle not runneth over!! LOL
With that said, if I keg the extra water, place in my keezer, how long can I expect it to be good for brewing? Should I add anything to it? I expect to brew again in 4-5 weeks.

I would repurpose it by making coffee, tea, giving to the cat/dog, use it in the iron, ice maker, clothes washing machine, etc, etc.  I wouldn’t save it for brewing that far out.

Ok thanks. Just to verify, it doesn’t matter if it’s RO water?

What could happen to it? Not only is it just water, it's RO water. You're going to boil it anyway.

I recall Martin Brungard commenting on this years ago. I believe he said it is very stable.

No different than the drinking water sitting on the grocery shelf.

Don't judge a beer by it's cover.

I’d say it will be good for at least a millennia. Even if something grew in that water, brewing makes it a nonissue.

So, you’re saying it does go bad, eventually, then?
