1st batch update :D
« on: November 03, 2010, 12:35:59 pm »
Hey guys, so the adventure of my first brew is just about ready to be bottled.  Only a slight problem.  I've got to make a trip up to Canada for a few days, meaning I'm going to have to put off bottling until the evening of the 8th or during the day on the 9th.  From what I've read it seems some people say there is no benefit or harm to keeping the beer in the air locked carboy longer than needed.  Just kinda wanted to give you guys an update and share a pic :)

Looks good!

A few extra days will help, if anything. No worries.

I agree.  A few extra days may help and certainly not hurt your beer.

Happy Brewing,

I've had primaries go for a month with no ill effects. Keep it away from light and heat and you're good.

Let it ride. Everything will be OK. Your "brewing" calendar doesnt always line up with your "life" calendar!

How long has it been in the primary?  I've let ales sit as much as several weeks on the yeast without detriment to the beer.

A few extra days is no problem at all.  :)

I have two different porters on the yeast for a month now. Mostly it's laziness, but I'm also trying to condition it more before it goes into the kegs. BTW, you can leave it on the yeast for too long but YMMV.

I believe today would be day 10.  I don't have my brewing notes here with me but that sounds about right :D  I can't wait to get home and bottle... and propose the kegging and keggerator way of life. :D
