I'm going on Thanksgiving night to see Part 1.  Going to be too crazy this weekend to see it.

I hear consumption of homebrew increases one's propensity for generosity...

True  ;D ...though, most of my excitement or generosity comes from getting to see real movies via netflix.

I've read the books and liked them, but I haven't seen the movies.  I recently read the first two books to my kids - we started on book three, but they thought that was too scary so we stopped.  We're reading the Percy Jackson books now, and might pickup Harry Potter again in a year or so and see how it goes.  They're big fans. :)

When my son was 2 (he's 11 now) a friend gave us Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on VHS.  He loves that movie and watched over and over as young'uns like to do.  Every time it got to the part were Voldemort was drinking the unicorn blood he would go, "Daddy it's the scary part!" and wrap his arms and legs around me in a bear hug and bury his face in my neck until Voldemort flew away.  Of course I would watch, and being a big fan of F&SF became hooked on Harry Potter.

I agreed to go with my wife and son to see HP & TDH I on Friday night.  I am soooooo looking forward to sitting in the dark with hundreds of strangers coughing and sneezing all around me...  :P

My kids are just 5, I'm not sure they even know there are Harry Potter movies yet. :)  We'll get to them eventually, I'll watch them then.

Harry Potter was a big part of my youngest's learning to read.  I read the first two to him and by the third, he was reading it to me.

We're reading the Percy Jackson books now...

My son loves the Percy Jackson books.  He smoked through that series in no time at all.  We would find him under the bed covers with a flashlight reading them after lights out.

The Lightning Thief movie was disappointing.

We are also R. Lee Ermey fans, so Percy Jackson mutated into Percy JACKWAGON!

My kids do that with books now, but it's more Magic Schoolbus and Secrets of Droon.  And not so much the flashlight, I loved to read in bed at night as a kid, so I gave them lights that mount on their headboards and let them read as much as they want.  Pick your battles - that was one my parents never won, and I'm not willing to fight it :)

For reading?  I sometimes have to make them turn off their lights and go to sleep two+ hours after bed time.  It's a good thing there is such a thing as a public library, because I really can't keep buying them new books all of the time.

It probably helps that we don't let them watch a lot of TV. ;)

TV will rot your brain... ::)

I saw part of You Don't Mess with the Zohan last night at work. We were almost falling out of our chairs. I've seen almost all of Sandler's flicks. Childish? Yes. Funny? Most of the time. But we like them.  :)

His more serious efforts like Spanglish impressed me.

Which leads me to the the John Tuturro. I've always considered him more of a serious type of actor. His acting in Miller's Crossing was amazing. He's shown up in several of Sandler's movies and not much else...
