I liked it.  Its geared for a general audience, so an experienced brewer would think its information is underwhelming.  I agree that Sam is somewhat over the top, but you need to be that way in order to keep the audience's attention.

Good work and I think that it will aid in furthering the general public's understanding and appreciation of craft beer.

I'm gonna keep watching it... Sam does come off full of himself (kinda reminds me of the Smiling Bob commercial   :D ) but hey I bet he is a riot in person too.  Come on... could you talk somebody into drinking a glass of beer you told them was made with spit?   ;D :D :D :D

I thought it was a bore.  And yes, Sam seems a bit full of himself.  But to give you some perspective, probably not as much as Jamil Z.

OK, that's funny

I kinda liked it,. but it felt too much like an hour long infomercial for DFH.  If each show features a different brewery, then I have no problem with Sam going first, but if the whole series is DFH, then 2 thumbs down.

I think you will find Sam is the star of the show and looking at the promos the show will be wrapped around him and his brewing. Individual expectations vary greatly about the show. I am just glad to have a show about beer!!!

I hear ya.  I just think it won't do a lot for the craft beer industry.  DFH uses way to many adjuncts.  There's a point where that much creativity just means it's not beer anymore.  (or maybe I'm just not ready for all that stuff)  I make a Christmas beer every year, and tried a pepper beer once.  But, my usual rotation is Pale, IPA, Black IPA, Amber, and I'll throw in an ale version of a Marzen from time to time.......

I am a fan of DFH and always have been.  I enjoyed the show and will be tuning in for the next one.  I already have my DVR set to record Sunday's episode.  I thought it was interesting to see the operation of the brewery.  Kudos to Sam and DFH.

Just watched the "Chicha" episode. Learned a few things actually.

I liked it too.  Even if the whole series is just about Sam and co traveling around searching for ingredients, I'll tune in.  A show about beer by a guy who knows and loves beer . . . sounds good to me.

My thoughts exactly.

I'll try to watch it tonight.

I liked it too, but at one point I almost gagged from all the chewing and spitting.
Sam seems a little more subdued in these episodes than in real life, if you can imagine that.

I would say a BIG improvement from the last episode.

I enjoyed that they tryed to find the traditional way how to
make it and then adjust it to their enviroment.

What understand from the show that traditional Chicha does not have berley or hops.
By this standard it is not beer but fermented beverage.

I just hope it doesn't turn into the American Chopper of beer show.  Where there will be a Brewer's brew off, Monster brewery, and on and on...
