It will take much less than switching schedules to get this show cancelled. They're probably hunting for viewers.

Sam has a recipe book out.  I've never read it.  Does it have recipes for beers currently in the DFH lineup?  If so, I don't see how keeping secrets on the show protects any proprietary information.
Extreme Brewing has 60 minute and Raison D'Etre that I remember, Midas Touch too I think.  Probably one or two more from DFH, then recipes from other breweries.  Is there another book out, or is that the one you're thinking of?

Yup, that's the book I was thinking of - I wasn't sure if the 120 was in there or not.  Brewing Network had a 120m episode that was interesting.

Looks like Sam may need the extra money.....   I hate these kind of lawsuits.  It's like blaming McDonalds for your fat kid.

Can't give away homebrew at a public function.

Need insurance for homebrew events.

Ambulance chasers on practically every TV ad.

Etc, etc, etc,

We just need to shoot every other lawyer.

I wonder if they own those alehouses or if they licence their name?

I know they own the one in Rehoboth Beach, and I believe they own the one in Gaithersburg as well.

The one in rehoboth is a brew pub.  I don't believe that they brew at the alehouses... they also serve much more then just DFH.  I read about this lawsuite and the drivers bar tab was loaded with Corona's!

It's kind of hard to be impressed with a brewery that's constantly dumping bad beer.

I'm even less impressed with breweries that *sell* bad beer.

I figure it's like all the bad press about companies losing personal data about their customers.  It's not that it's new, it's just that a law was passed that requires them to disclose it.  Who knows how much beer gets dumped from other breweries?  It's just that you see what DFH does.

I was kinda amused when they said 120 minute was too sweet.  I think it's too sweet when it tastes the way they want it to.  90 minute too.

I think it's really impressive that they dump it, but not so impressive that they make it.  Hopefully it is rarer than it seems on the show.

Then again they may have been filming for a long time (years?) and "only" dumped two batches.

I think it's entirely possible that DFH dumps more beers than average due to the variety of their ingredients and the strength of the beers they brew.  Look at what they've showed being dumped so far:  An 18% beer and a 10% beer with some strange ingredients (including the yeast I believe - didn't they say it was a sake yeast).  It's a lot easier to mess up something like that than if you're making 100,000 gallons of the exact same, or similar beers, day in and day out.

Would any of you make a large batch of beer, using very strange ingredients and serve it, for the first time, to the public before you had even tried it yourself?

I wouldn't even do that with 5 gallons of my stuff. I don't know whether to consider that really gutsy or just plain stupid.
