I don't think I jailbreak... what's that? Besides the point, I tried beer alchemy and didn't like it much. If you could get it for an ipod I might give it a second chance.

I use BrewMath religiously to adjust decoction volumes and recalculate refractometer readings while brewing.  BJCPStyles is convenient to have.  It's searchable and nice to have for every reason you can think of.

BeerAlchemy is nice to have if you are a Mac user and have the Mac version of it.  It's easier to use on the Mac than on an iPod/iPhone.  I have used it at brewclub meetings to quickly throw together a recipe or just to play around with ingredients and ratios.

Simplenote is a free app that allows you to take notes.  The neat thing is that the notes can be shared with another device or edited online.  The iPod/iPhone syncs to all of the other devices.  It allows the wife and I to both work on the weekly grocery list.  The downside is that I often get sent out to do grocery shopping since I have the list on me at all times. 

Enigmo is a neat game.  Check it out.

They ported Doom over to the iPod/iPhone.  The controls are obviously different, but the game is true to the way I remember it.  Not a bad way to kill a few minutes during the day.

The Betty Crocker Cookbook app is nice.  The iPad version is really nice, but the iPod/iPhone version is pretty good.  It's something I can use while food shopping (see above, I am food shopping often).

There's also a really nice port of a HP 12C financial calculator.  The interface looks like a 12C and all of the functions are there too.  If you know how to use a 12C, this app is invaluable.

I saw that. Thought about it, too. For $2.99 I may have pulled the trigger but for some reason I just haven't felt compelled to pay anything more than .99¢ for an app yet. Actually, besides BrewPal I only bought one app so far. But I will proabbly get the Mr.Malty one eventually. It is a pretty handy item to have on hand.

OK, so splice works pretty decent. Title screen, transitions, inserting photos with a timed delay, edititng clips, adding soundtrack. Using the same device to record and edit is pretty cool.

OP, what kind of apps do you want?  Beer-related or general purpose ones?  I have an iphone not an ipod touch, but most of these apps should work the same.

For beer-related ones, I use BeerAlchemy on the iphone.  I don't have the Mac version; I do it all here.  I used to use ProMash, but I was tired of it not being maintained.  It's a little pricey, but I found that it is very usable.  I also have Brew Pal that I use only to do recipe conversions for Zymurgy.  It doesn't have many features, but it's not bad for one-off calculations.  It's quick.  BJCPstyles is the other one I use regularly.  I also use Calculator and Convertbot for math and for unit conversions.

Non-beer related ones that I use regularly:

Twitter bought the best paid client out there, and now it's free.  That's a good client.  I use BeeJiveIM for instant messaging.  The free Google client is quite useful, not just for voice searches but also for email.

The free Alarm Clock app is pretty useful, particularly after multi-tasking was added to the OS.

If you travel, I like FlightTrack.  It costs some money, but I use it every trip.

The Weather Channel app is a good free weather app with more info than the built-in app.

Games are a very personal thing.  Depends on what you like.  I use iBridge Baron all the time, and Enjoy Sudoku as well.

Pandora is good for music.  Shazam is very cool to answer the "what's that song"? question.  I use IMDB for the same purpose on movies.

If you use Netflix, their app is great for on-demand viewing.  Works very well.  I use i.TV for looking up TV listings, and Fandango for movie times.

CheckPlease Lite is a great free tip calculator.  ESPN Score Center is cool for looking up sports scores.

Those are ones I use regularly.  I have a lot more apps on the phone that I use rarely.  I also left off a lot of the location-based ones since you need to have a network connection to get value out of them.

Google Mobile - voice search!
Google Earth - the multi-touch interface just makes it even more cool.
Words with Friends, because I'm addicted to Scrabble.
Tilt to Live - possibly the most addictive game ever.
Apple's Remote - lets you control iTunes on your PC from across the room.
Bump - for exchanging contact info.
My bank, Chase, has an app that lets you deposit checks by taking a picture of them. I think the other major banks have, or will soon have, similar things. Super convenient.
