Has anybody used Barbe Rouge hops?
« on: April 23, 2021, 01:50:50 pm »
Greetings,

Thinking of using Barbe Rouge hops in my Strawberry Cream Ale.  Has anybody used these before and in what amount?

Thanks
Some day we'll look back on this and it will all seem funny

A friend of mine used them, in combination with others, in a hazy IPA. It worked out well. Have not had them on their own though.

I’ve not used them but recall the Brew Dudes review of them on YouTube. Honestly don’t remember what they said.

Watched the Brew Dogs and it was interesting that berries wasn't necessarily the first thing that came to them.  The one guy did mention a mellow blackberry flavor.  In my beer, the hops are not supposed to be the star, so we will see.

Yes, I am curious about these hops, too. Just got a promotional email from YVH today, and the description of them having berry flavor and aroma peaked my interest. Trapae and Hopfenundmalz, if you try yours, please let us know how it goes with them. Thanks!

I just got an email yesterday from YVH for "French Hops" and this one was listed along with Strisselspalt, Elixir, Mistral, Brewer's Gold, etc.  From the email:

Quote
Barbe Rouge 🍓🫐🍒 boasts big flavors of juicy red berries and is the perfect fit for any hazy.

That's a direct copy and paste... "any hazy".  :D

Btw... what is your recipe for Strawberry Cream Ale?  How will you introduce the fruit?  Always interested in this topic.
