Groundhog, you got some splainin' to do!

Hey I saw and Osprey this past Saturday, and heard another today. That's a more sure sign of spring than any groundhog could ever come up with...

Yeah, and my house has been invaded by ants over the weekend.  I'll take that as a sign of spring!  ;D
The mosquitos are back.  Maybe they never left.
It’s supposed to get pretty cold tonight in Tampa.  I hope my avocado tree can take it.  It has more blossoms on it than I have ever seen before.

It's bitter cold here in Portland OR. Hovering right around freezing for the last several weeks. What makes it worse is the constant wind that roars out of the Columbia gorge. Last Sunday it was 31 degrees, clear skies and sunny but the wind made it have a "Real Feel" of like 20.

Granted it's not -30 like Minnesota, but it's unseasonably cold for this area. Average temps are supposed to be in the 50s.

Finally had a overnight low last night above the low single digits. Wasn't a brutally cold winter [as in 30 -40 below], but definitely a persistent one, about as much subzero as we've seen in quite a while. I'm ready to see a robin, hell I'd settle for a friggin starling.

Yeah, if you could get just one friggin starling that'd be cool!  ;D

If all the rain here keeps up this way, our mosquitoes are going to blot out the sun. Every low lying area, ditch, stream, etc. has has standing water since December.

...hell I'd settle for a friggin starling.

You can have ours, and if they freeze over the winter that'd be even better. One of three species that are pests here, and open season year round. (No license or bag limits needed.) Very well known for invading native bird's nests, and just a pest overall.
Corn is a fine adjunct in beer.

And don't buy stale beer.

Starlings are a pretty vile example of winged vermin, but the reappearance of vermin means that spring [all 3 days of it] is on the way.

Six feet of irony on the ground here (ski areas closing due to avalanche danger).

Getting the blizzard here in Denver but not as bad as up in the mountains for sure. The office closed early today but I'm sure I'll be back at work tomorrow morning.

Went around and picked up limbs fallen from a recent storm and carted them off in the Front End Loader (FEL).  I had cleaned up the mid mount mower deck over the winter so it was ready to go. Today, I laid it down from its storage position, topped off the gear oil, installed it under the tractor, removed the rock box and FEL, and mowed the front yard. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be stormy again so I wanted to work outside while I could.  Nice day.

Ha! Just last night it occurred to me I ought to get to to changing the oil in the mower and sharpening the blades.   Then I thought nah, won't be mowing for a while yet.  At least I hope so.  I appreciate the brief intervals twice a year when I'm neither mowing nor plowing and shoveling.  I still have a nice pile of snow in a shady spot where it all gets pushed to.
