In the summer of 2004 we had 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks in Florida.  Two months later I moved to Hawaii, only to find out that here we have hurricanes, earthquakes, lava flows and tsunamis.  Nice trade ay?

In the fall of '05 I was sitting at the Lava Lounge in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park having a pint of Kona Brewing's Lavaman Red.  Several of the regulars and I were watching coverage of the events in New Orleans.  They started making comments about how stupid it was to have a city there in the first place, and how stupid it would be to rebuild.

Well, unknown to them at the time, my mother's side of the family is from New Orleans and I consider it to be home.

Says I, "So you think it's stupid to live in a city that floods?  As compared to... oh say, living on the summit of an erupting volcano?"

In the 5+ years since, I have heard no more disparaging remarks about New Orleans in the Lava Lounge.

I actually live in the caldera of a volcano, but at least it's dormant.

Usually it is humid and hot as f@#k here. I'm grateful it has cooled down. My AC doesn't kick on and I can wear long-sleeves.

Its Wisconsin is all i need to say. nut for those who don't know that is a normal answer here it means that its is getting cold by other standards, but here cold is when your cat does not want to start.

high 20's and snow this weekend. may have to install the exaust fan in the basement for brewing this weekend.

On that note it I have embarked on the mission to create a house beer unique to me. i think it is going to be a long road with alot of beer made but not what i want. this is going to be fun.

Down here in Southern New Mexico it's ~ 25 at night and will hit 70. A few nights ago it went down to 12F. It's time to get into lager production mode!

We got our first snow yesterday and last night.  All the way down to 11,000 ft. on Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea.

This morning I surfed in the 80°F Pacific Ocean.  Now I'm headed up to go snowboarding on Mauna Kea

Currently 22 degF in Green Bay area of Wisconsin.  We had approx. 6 in. of snowfall since yesterday evening.  After this storm passes we will be experiencing high temps in the teens and lows in the single digits.  It is finally winter in Wisconsin.   :)
