If not, the weatherman would report a volcanic eruption about to obliterate a town as 'overcast.'

50F and sunny here in...wait for it...IOWA.  Suppose to be the same tomorrow.  Unbelievable winter we're having.  We haven't gotten a full inch of snow yet and I heard somewhere we usually already have had 10 inches by the end of December.  Been a while since we've had a winter like this.  Of course we'll probably get pounded in March and April with the wet heavy snow.

So, it's cold here.  Not arctic cold, but freezing.  We've got a couple of inches of snow on the ground from yesterday, and it's currently snowing.  For some of you guys that's no big deal, but this area shuts down when it snows.  And apparently we're going to get anywhere from 6 - 18 inches in the next 48 hours.  We've already gone sledding, made a snowman, had snowball fights, etc.  To avoid cabin fever, I'm seriously considering brewing outside during the storm Wednesday, as long as it's not too windy it should be fine.

Interesting mix today... A little rain, a little freezing rain, a little sleet, followed by a couple inches of snow. Sounds like a perfect day to brew my Baltic Porter.

Snow! Sweet, glorious snow! About 16" here in town, with some wind-loading stuff at elevation getting around three feet.

Snowing and raining at the same time.  We've had about 6" of snow at my place since Sun., although there's almost none in town.  Supposed to have 30-40 mph winds w/ 60 mph gusts starting tonight through Wed.

Today's been weird.  We had a thunderstorm overnight. Before sunrise, when I went to school (I teach a 7:30am lab, groan), it was about 50F. Warmed up a bit more by the time I was done with my class.  We had snow flurries, 24 mph wind, and 30-ish by early afternoon.

Dang I wish it would snow for real.  Keeps teasing with flurries.

Snowmageddon started a few hours ago, nice steady falling snow.  But that's just the start.

"Late Tuesday night through Wednesday, a strong low-pressure system with copious amounts of moisture will approach the Northwest coast. This will set the stage for a major winter storm across the lower elevations and mountains of the Pacific Northwest. Travel could become dangerous or impossible."

Apparently some radio station is advising people to make sure they have enough food at home to last 5-7 days.  Seems a bit paranoid, eh?

Then again we have no plows really, and no one has snow tires, and the terrain is really hilly.  But it's also supposed to turn to rain on Thursday, so it probably won't last the weekend.

I think we're going to miss out on those winds Denny, but you can have them!

Purdue? I remember those 7:30s fondly.

Well, I remember them, anyway.

Actually, I don't remember some of them.

We have rain and 37F today.  I don't ski or snowmobile so I am enjoying this winter so far ( I know the big ones are coming eventually).

The big pain will be this spring and summer when everyone is on water restrictions because of the limited snow melt.
