Ha.. I have to admit.. I'm living higher than I have ever lived before.. at 770 feet.

Of course, I grew up at 15 feet and went to school at 42 feet, so I'm high!

One of my favorite things about living here is that I can stand in 80 degree F ocean water and look at a snow capped mountain just under 14,000 feet tall - then jump into my truck and drive up to that summit in just over an hour.  I can surf and snowboard in the same day. At 26 miles staight line, point to point that is an average 10% grade.

In Orlando I lived 46 miles from the ocean, and slab on grade elevation at my home was 73 feet above sea level.  That is a 0.03% grade up from the ocean.

10% mo bettah!

I'm at 600 ft. and we got 7" of snow.

I don't understand. 600 feet from what?

It looks like it could be an elevation, but there are only three digits. ???

And I live in the foothills of the mountains!   :D  I've spent enough time in CO to realize that 600' is a bump crater there.

There fixed that for you  ;D

Single digit temps this morning, followed by up to 8 inches of snow today. Good day to brew since I won't be going anywhere in this winter wonderland... All at 909' of elevation.

The Southern Cross greeted me this morning.  Not a cloud in the sky.   Up (hours) before dawn to load up Scouts for this weekend's campout.  Time to go swimming with the whales at Mahukona!

The rain has moved in here and we are thawing.  It's a good thing the snow has come out of the trees, because the wind is starting to pick up.  Not enough to worry about, but if they were still top heavy with snow it could be a bad thing.  We only lost one tree that I know of, and the power is back on :)

I'm not sure what the Southern Cross means to you bo (are you thinking it's some kind of kkk thing?), but it's a constellation.  It's on the Australian and New Zealand flags.  We can't see it from the continental US, but it sounds like Hawaii is far enough south.

And it's Chinese New Year too.  Enter The Dragon!

Sitting in a kick-back lawn chair, listening to the waves break, watching Venus set in the west while the whales (cetaceans) slap their tails on the ocean surface and sing across about 5 octives...

The boys are fishing for menpachi over on the pier...

Did somebody say something about snow?

Pretty big earthquake here just now.  Waiting for the HVO website to update the earthquake page to see what magnatude.  My guess is 5.8.

HVO website earthquake page automatic update says 5.0.  It felt bigger than that to me. We'll see if the scientists update the magnitude after reading their instruments.

It was a big intial pulse with three reverberations.  Rocked my house pretty hard!  The biggest since the 6.7 in October 2006.  We'll be checking for structural damage island wide after this one.

It was centered beneath the current flow field of Kilauea.  It will be interesting to see if it affects the erruption.

Got a few inches of snow/ice mix here this weekend. First snow to be had here on the Delmarva Peninsula this season. It's a beautiful landscape. Winter is here to stay for a while. I like it.  :)

Keep safe man!

We got a lot of wind here today and lost more stuff out of the trees.  Nothing hit the house though.  I think it will be nice got the next bit, and by nice I mean only rain every day. :)

Yesterday morning we had 60-70 mph winds, it raised hell with our satellite dishes at work.  But today is magnificent, no clouds or wind, about 60F already
