Damn damn damn. I had several beers slated for NHC entries (and yeast crops ready to go), but with three feet of snow in as many days and more forecast, it looks like I may not get them brewed in time.

Time to get started on that electric brewery, I guess...

73 gosh darn degrees here today, but rain clouds are moving in.  I'm not worried, they'll bypass and rain on somebody else.  they always do now.

A little cool tonight, mid 30s, but the days have been warm enough that the garlic is coming in already.  I really hope it doesn't freeze.

Bummer about the beers Sean, I have no idea what to tell you.  Do small batches on the stove? :-\

My garlic and shallots are already up, daffodils are coming up too.  But most mornings are still in the 25-28F range and it doesn't bother the plants

I had the most blossoms ever on my avocado tree, but we had a couple of cold nights this week, into the upper 30's.  I hope they aren't all dead.  I was looking forward to a lot of fruit this year.

We've had it freeze on our garlic before and they've been fine, we've also had freezes where the new growth died, but they came back.  I'm just worried that they'll use all of their energy since they are growing so big now, then we get a hard freeze that kills the growth, and then they are weak through the summer.  It's probably nothing to worry about, but I still worry :)

I had to do my pruning with the temps in the 40s, it's not normally this warm this early.

Do small batches on the stove? :-\

I'll probably end up doing that for one or two of them, but for the hoppy beers I don't have time to tweak the recipes, and not doing a whirlpool would no doubt throw off my late additions.

I'd tough it out if it was just snow, but below about 15-20°F the propane won't flow properly. Maybe point a space heater at the propane tank... ::)

Or just build a little fire around it to keep it nice and toasty warm.

The few we have harvested over the years have been very good.  Mostly the squirrels taste them first.
