Gorge-ous! 65° days 35° nights and crystal clear, no wind. The last couple weeks of October are always the best here.

Yeah, sounds like rubbing it in to me; after a warm fall, winter just arrived.  You could have asked this in October...

Makes me want to ask, how much is a gallon of milk or gas or some other non-local commodity.

So, yeah, it's 29F now, but milk is $1.99 and gas is $2.89.

Milk in Western Washington is about $3.29, and gas is just a bit more.

That's the metric by which quality of life is measured?

"I live in a miserable s***hole, but hey, gas and milk are cheap!"    :o

(Not disrespecting Western Washington)

Hey I have an idea, let's all move to Hawaii so it becomes an overcrowded miserable s***hole! ;)

Just kidding Carl!  There must be a price for paradise or everyone would live there.

There's a price to pay to live anywhere.  Give up some things - gain others.

I grew up as an Air Force brat, and then as a NASA brat during Apollo.  My family lived many places around the world.  That allowed me to realize that living wherever you want is just a matter of making up your mind to be there, and then making it happen.

Florida used to be my favorite place in the world, and I lived there for many years.  Then my wife and I came to Hawaii on our honeymoon.  As soon as I stepped off of the plane I knew this is where I am supposed to be.  So I made it happen.  This is hands-down my favorite place in the world.  I still love Florida, and go back to visit occasionally.  I used to enjoy traveling.  Not so much anymore.  I am really happy waking up in Hawaii, every day.

Gas - $3.90/gal   (I live on an island - how far do I need to drive?)
Milk - $4.80/gal

Papayas - free
mangos - free
avocados - free
pineapples - free
citrus - free
coffee - free
honey - free
eggs - free
fresh seafood - free
no heating bill
no air-conditioning bill

Swimming in an 80 degree ocean, looking up at two snowcapped mountains nearly 14,000ft. tall
Priceless

Somewhere on the other end of the spectrum...  it is 48F, overcast with a light wind here in South Central Iowa today.  It is supposed to get into the mid-30's tonight by the end of the football game.  Same for tomorrow and Sunday.  On Monday the bottom drops out and today's low will be above Monday's high.

Ya gotta love the Midwest a week ago it still 85+.  8^)

Marching band season ends this weekend so maybe I get back to brewing one of these days.

Enjoy Hawaii but we have leaves changing, finally, and the heat of summer is behind us for good this year.

mid 60's yesterday, mid 60's tomorrow.  33F at the moment.

went on a beer/BBQ run to KC today.
drove through a blizzard for about 50 miles starting in Emporia on the way back.  Since we seem to be focused on Hawaii, let's just call it an "okole squeezer"
 ;D

cheers--

High of 69 today.  We've had an amazing Indian summer this past month, aside from a bunch of tropical storm rain last week.  Considering how humid regular summer is, this has been preferable.

I'm with ya Carl!  The wife and I are discussing plans to make the move to Maui.  This time of year on a nice clear day as we go paddle boarding or kayaking off the shores of the Kamaole Beaches, you look out towards the Big Island and see those two snow capped peaks as clear as day.

However, I'm still in Denver and really love living here.  We got about an inch of snow this morning and the sun came out and warmed up nicely.

My wife and I love skiing and snowboarding and are getting our 4-yr-old daughter skiing this year.  After getting all her gear (which we'll have to buy new or off craigslist every year as she continue to grow) and getting ski passes, we really wished we were in Hawaii.  Besides getting her a surf board, it's free to go surfing, snorkeling, etc...! 8)

You got me there. Maybe when I retire and have more time I'll swim on over.

No worries, a 60 year old woman can swim from Havana to Key West - at trip to Hawaii should be a breeze for a young whippersnapper like you.   ;)

Would sitting in a hot tub on a cruise ship bound for Hawaii count?
