The first humpback whales of the season were sighted here today!  A sure sign that Makahiki has arrived.

In the 80's yesterday and again today. Strange for October... but pleasant.

Still upper 80s to mid 90s but mornings are in the 50s so things are cooling off. We still have less than 2 inches of rain in the past 13 months, our driest year ever on record.  But it's raining all over the rest of New Mexico, just not here.

60-70 and sunny. Clean, crisp air. Glorious autumn weather!

Finally...it's an absolutely beautiful fall day. 74F and very low humidity. I wish it would stay like this all year. This is my favoritte time of year on the Mid-Atlantic Coast.  :)

This guy wanted to come here to Hilo really bad.  He came up just a little short.

Wasn't the guy only about 13 miles offshore? That's cutting it close.

We're actually getting a wee bit o'rain. Which is good because all the lakes and aquifers etc are getting very low. We've only had about 6" for the year when we should have had at least 30".

Driving home just now I saw at least a dozen drops on my windshield-time to build an Ark.

That was a nice front. Ya'll got. We've got an awesome lightning show going on and the rain is about to fall! Pump hooked up in case it floods in the back. My 'maters will be safe... Unless it hails.

Spitting wet globs of snow this morning. Should get a hard freeze tonight.

I'm thinking about heading home early;
burn me some wood and toast a few punkin seeds. 8)

Been in the upper 80's and low 90's all week, but tomorrow the high will be around 50F and the low in the 30's.  You gotta love fall in New Mexico.

I heard on the radio news that there is a huge gob of debris from the Honshu tsunami floating across the Pacific Ocean towards us.  ETA Hawaii - spring 2013.  ETA US mainland - spring 2014.  It is currently located about halfway between Japan and Midway Island.  They know the debris field is from Japan because there is the wreckage of a fishing boat from Fukushima in the debris.

It's finally cooling off here in Central Iowa.  High 70's yesterday but predicted high of 55 today.  Now we just need a hard freeze to make the leaves drop and kill of the last of the bugs.
