The Southern Cross greeted me this morning.

Just finished plowing the toxic waste (ie snow) from the weekend, looks nice for a couple days almost 30f. Only 4 days of -20f so far. Way cool as long as propane prices stays low.

We've still got some snow on the ground, I'm more concerned with the wind though.  The power has flickered a couple of times . . .

I am glad that I could...don't want to, but could, survive without the grid for a while.

40F and rain here but we really do need the rain and it beats snow
I'd really just rather be brewing in sunny Carlsbad New Mexico

We've gone days before, it's not too bad if you can keep warm.  We need to either get a generator or a fireplace insert, our existing fireplaces warm the area right in front of them and suck the heat out of the rest of the house.

We had a severe and lengthy thunderstorm last night. Right when I thought the power should go out- it did. But only for a few seconds. My backyard is still flooded. :-\

After Hurricane Charley went through Central Florida on 8/13/04 we went without electricty for 7 days.  It was a VERY hot and humid time of the year to be without power.  Try sleeping in 85 degrees - 95% humidity with no AC or fan, and the neighbors' noisy generators as loud as lawnmowers going all night long.

We had prepared by having cash on hand (no ATM power), gas tanks and gas cans full of gas (no gas pump power), several tanks of propane (propane sold out), prescriptions filled (no power at pharmacy), carboys and C-kegs full of drinking water, a swimming pool full of water for flushing toilets and bathing (tap water was not affected, but best to be prepared).

Plus food storage - but I can't talk about that, or risk being branded a terrorist...   ;)

Ewww, it's snowing.  It was doing this sleety thing earlier, so I guess this is an improvement, other than the temperature dropping below freezing now that everything's wet.

Edit: The forecast for the rest of today and tomorrow says "ice pellets."  Double ewww.

I just heard that they had to turn off the pump in the Manneken Pis statue because it's so cold in Europe.

Glad to be in Florida.....

It's either an extended Indian spring or it has arrived early. With some extended rain things are growing green, thick and lush.

Another bluebird powder day here, with 8-20" on the ground.

I mean, it's awful... No one move here. ;)

75 degrees...

:/

i really wish it was cooler.  i don't really like weather this warm this time of year strictly due to the fact that i can keep the side of the house we don't use a lot cooler and ferment beer in there without having to run the AC.
