Funny how a minor snow event shuts this city down.

I thought that only happened to us Southerners.  :D

Just the threat of it gets everyone in a tizzy. ;)

I had to look up graupel.  It must be one of those 100 words that eskimos have for different kinds of snow.
German I think :)  It's funny stuff, like tiny snowballs.

We got over 5 inches, and expect a little more today.  That's a huge amount for this area, and with the low temps for the next couple of days I expect it to stick around.  School was canceled as expected, and might be tomorrow too.  It's like a mini-vacation :)

I just got off of the phone with a lab manager I work with in Burlington WA.  He says snow has brought everything there pretty much to a stop.

Looks like we have another 3-5 inches of snow on the way tonight. I'm ready for spring already.

That's the way it goes here :)

Apparently there's been some fallout for the district over canceling classes when there was no snow.  I can see why some parents were irritated.  On the other hand, I heard that a few years ago something like 200 grade school kids got stranded at school and had to spend the night in the gym with teachers.  I imagine there were a lot of irritated parents over that one too.

The real question is what they will do for tomorrow.  The roads are clear but very wet, and it's supposed to drop to 20 tonight.  Maybe a late start to let the roads thaw?  I guess I'll find out in the morning.

It is February, to be followed by more February, followed by some more.  Then a week of March.  Then a week of April, then 2 weeks of May, then full Summer.  Spring is not so good here.

Our Falls are usually the opposite, really nice.

I was looking out the windward to my surprise some of the trees are putting out leaves already. Surely it will get cold again. Poor foolish trees...

Terrible weather today...no clouds, all sun, mid to high 60's...aka golf weather while stuck at work.   ???

And the damn flowering pear has started blooming; as a homebrewer, it galls me that someone would plant a "fruit tree" that bears no usable fruit! (just tiny pear-like fruits that the dogs eat till they start foaming at the mouth, so must be really tannic!)

I should cut it down...but then I never really wanted to be a lumberjack........

I got peach and plum trees starting to bud. A little early I'm afraid.

;D  It's down to 22.5 right now, we'll see where it bottoms out.  I tried to take out the garbage and recycling earlier, and the cans are frozen shut.

I can totally relate - I got rid of a couple of flowering plums and replaced them with a hollywood plum.  I should get a decent crop eventually, if it survives the deer.

Man, someone keep an eye out on the news reports!

It's fallen to 50 here, but fortunately, the 23 lb cat has climbed on my feet to keep the frost bite at bay.

23lb cat?!  Good grief!  Dats one big kitty!

I've got a momma cat and four 4-week-old kittens that weigh 11 lbs all together.  One kitten sleeping under my chin keeps almost half of my neck warm.  And the purring is so loud it's hard to go to sleep.   :)

He's lost weight recently due to a new diet for his kidneys. He used to be ~26.

His sister lost weight too, she's down to 13 from 17.

Think that happens as they get older (14)
