Win7 taskbar icon tabs
« on: December 03, 2010, 09:40:13 pm »
I just got a new laptop with Win7 and I'm working on learning its particulars.  Originally, if I had a program like Firefox (for example)open with multiple tabs open in it, the taskbar icon for it would show multiple tabs on the icon and allow me to preview what each one was.  Somehow I turned that off.  Anybody know how I can get it back?

Multiple tabs, or multiple "browsers" open?  I've been using Win 7 for about 8 months and have never seen tab previews on the task bar.  However, when you hover over any of the icons, it will show whatever is open for that program.  For example, I'm using Chrome now- writing this and chatting w/ my wife (in a popout window).  When I hover over the Chrome icon, it shows this page and the chat window.  In the same way, if I have multiple spreadsheets open they all show up when I hover over the Excel icon.  It does not, however, show individual tabs for each spreadsheet.  Just a view of whatever's on the screen.  FWIW, I've been digging Win 7.

Perhaps, when you saw it before, it wasn't tabs but different open browsers.

Confused yet?

Denny- why do you have a picture of Henry Lee Summer for your profile pic?

I _was_ pretty sure it was multiple tabs.  But I'm confused and it seems to be working at least partially the way I want it ot now, so I'm gonna stop thinking about it before my head explodes!  :)

BTW, that's David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap.

If you use multiple monitors, you can also drag tabs to the other monitor w/o resizing.  I love that feature.

I know nothing about spinal tap
