Adding valve to SS pot
« on: December 07, 2010, 03:19:35 pm »
I have a nice 8 gallon SS pot, but no valve or thermometer. I'd love to add a valve, at least, but maybe even a thermometer. Is drilling the holes something I can do? If so, what equipment do I need?

There are a few threads on this.  The typical recommendation is a "step" drill bit and a weldless valve.  Another thing to consider is if you have (or are planning) a false bottom.
Beer...Now there's a temporary solution!

Use the search function on this forum.  It'll come up.  Agree with step drill bit and weld-less spigot--get both online--as they are cheaper that way.

I just added a ball valve to mine.  Here's the thread with the advice I got on doing it:

Thanks everyone for the advice. Seems like a step drill bit is the way to go.
