bobcat in my yard
« on: December 15, 2010, 02:08:36 pm »
If you had one of these sitting in your front yard for the next 18 hours or so, what would you do with it?

I'm leaning toward leaving it alone so I don't hurt myself :)

The only place it would be really useful is in the back.  There are two ways to get there, the way I want to go is blocked by forms and rebar and stuff where they'll pour a slab when the weather allows it.  The other way would require driving across my septic drainage field, and based on how it churned up and compacted the yard that seems like a terrible idea.  I really want to do something with it, I just can't think of anything.  Maybe I'll see if the neighbors need anything done :)

this is much cooler.

too bad you're on the other side of the continent - I'd let you knock down some trees for free  ;)

My boss bought one of these for his farm.  I wasn't there to witness his inaugural attempt to scoop manure from the cattle pens but nobody showed him how to stop the bucket once he started up with a nice big load.  His wife and daughter tell me the bucket went all the way up and dumped the entire load of manure on his head.  I guess the next day he got out the instruction manual and did a few "dry" runs until he got the hang of it.

I might need it here tomorrow, based on the snow forecast :-[ If it were summer, I'd use it to remove some honeysuckle. A lot of honeysuckle.

I have seen one used to haul spent grain to the compost heap. Took multiple trips, too.

Well, you can't just leave it there. Those things are way too much fun. Drive it down to the liquor store. And bring the beer back in the bucket.

Ha! I thought you were going to talk about the furry type of bobcats, which I have had in my yard. As far as what would I do with it - I could think of about a dozen projects that is would be handy for on my property.

Not 100% sure what I would do, but I am 100% sure, whatever it was, the neighbors would be REALLY pissed!  ;D

I needed one of them there bobcats last year when I was digging fence post holes with a two-man auger. They can be equipped with an auger attachment that will easily dig holes.

What exactly are you planning to do with that bad boy...or did I miss that part?
