Paulaner Salvator

OK...This isn't a recipe for Salvator, nor is it a request for one...
I just wasn't sure where this topic actually belongs.

I recently bought a sixer of Salvator (yummmmmm) & decided it had been a few years since I actually read the label.
Looks pretty much like I remember, aside from one small, almost forgetable item.

On the back label, in fairly large, bold lettering...
It states "ALE".

Can anyone explain this?
I had never noticed it, before this particular six-pack.
Has it always said that?

The "definition" can change from state to state.  If you happen to be in Texas, they have that on the label by law because it's stronger than "beer."
It's still a lager by the real definition.
Weird, eh?

Texas requires beers above a certain strength (5% by volume maybe?) to be labeled either as ale or malt liquor.

Aha...Controlled by counter-productive, government retards.
OK...I get it...The powers that be just don't know what they're talking about.
That makes sense, because the label on my Guinness Foreign Export I was drinking last night said "MALT LIQUOR".

Another case of SNAFU.

You mean I wasn't supposed to brown bag my Guinness FES and drink it on the park bench?

OH NOES

Most imports here in Michigan that are over 5 percent say "malt liquor".
